FLOSS - Free/Libre Open Source
Software
Rich Byrne, 1st Vice-President and past President of the New Jersey Computer Club, will
lead our meeting.
We will look at the concepts behind
FLOSS , the type of free that is part of the definition (free
as in beer and
free as in speech).
We will take a look at the
World Wide movement toward Open source Software. We'll examine
the
consequences of the Open Source Movement and take a look at
people behind the scenes.
We can then take a look at the most
popular open source software available for the Windows operating
system including
Mozilla, Firefox, Thunderbird,
OpenOffice.org, and
The Gimp.
Finally we will look at the contents
of a bootable
Linux disk from
Knoppix (click on the English version) containing all of the
above and much more.
And it is all FREE.
