Intel Digital Home
We will review an Intel-prepared
presentation on the Digital Home. Over the past few years, the
popularity of digitally formatted content, wider availability of
broadband and increased interest in home networks have acted as
catalysts to usher in an age of digital media in the home. Add in the
development of wireless network technology and the increasing
sophistication of personal digital devices (MP3 players, digital
cameras, PDAs, etc) and the groundwork is laid for the "digital home",
where PCs and consumer electronics converge to create a convenient
digital media environment.
In the digital home, the Internet and
broadcast worlds are integrated through the home wireless network. Over
this network, consumer electronics and PC devices work together to
create a pervasive digital media environment. For example, digital
pictures or video edited on a PC can be easily accessed and displayed on
a TV. Digital music can be shared and enjoyed between devices regardless
of where it is stored within the home. Overall, the digital home will
help deliver a richer, easier-to-use digital entertainment experience.
