The Performance Equation:
More Than Megahertz
John Crank
Looking at the history of microprocessor architecture and the
divergence of processor design, AMD's presentation will discuss how
clock speed was at one time an accurate PC performance measurement, but
no longer accounts for many emerging factors that influence how well
software will perform on a given computer.
Continuing the evolution of CPU design, AMD will also discuss the
upcoming 64-bit capable processor line and how it will benefit businesses
and home users alike.
Please bear in mind that while the presentation is fairly general in
scope and initially aimed at an audience with a moderately technical
background, John will be able to delve as deeply as some of the more
technically minded in your group would like. Additionally, he'll be able
to provide real-world analogies and examples so that those brand-new to
the material will also benefit from the information. We would like to give
an introduction to our upcoming product line and talk about how we can
follow-up with you later in the year as those products enter the market
for mainstream computer users.
