Jim Russ, the Librarian of the New Jersey Computer
Club, will demonstrate two "digital cameras" he recently
purchased.
Intel's QX3+ looks like a microscope but you don't look
thru it. Instead it displays images under its lens on your PC's monitor and
allows you to capture pictures and movies of items on its platform. It
can be removed from its stand and held in your hand. Magnification can
be changed to 10x, 60x, or 200x and the stand has focus knobs. The
amount of light can also be controlled. The software also contains a
library of photos and movies of many tiny specimens that have been collected for you. As if this is not enough, you can change the pictures
in your collection using fun paint and palette tools, make slide shows
or print out wacky posters and stickers for your collection. This is a great
educational present for a birthday or anytime.
The Logitech QuickCam Pro 3000 is a color camera that works off the
Universal Serial Bus (USB) of all new computers. Using a CCD sensor, the
QuickCam Pro 3000 takes stunning pictures and videos with true 640x480
(VGA) resolution. Use its built-in microphone to make live video calls
to friends and family over the Internet and send exciting e-mail with
pictures and videos. QuickCam software lets you easily set up a digital
monitoring camera, create a live web cam or broadcast live video and
audio over the Web via Spotlife.com. Enhance pictures with sharpen,
warp, posterization effects, and more. Add professional titles, fades,
and wipes to your videos with award-winning MGI software.
