Minutes of the
October 13, 2004
New Jersey Computer Club General Meeting
The regular second Wednesday monthly General
Meeting of the New Jersey Computer Club was held at the North Branch Reformed
Church starting at 7:09 PM. There were approximately 24 members and 2 guests in
attendance.
The minutes and Treasurer’s report, as posted
on the Web, were approved.
Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved): That
Union County College be selected to receive a $500 NJCC Memorial Award for 2004.
Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved): That
Rider University be selected to receive a $500 NJCC Memorial Award for 2004.
These awards will go to a student involved
with computers and willing to assist other computer users.
Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved): That
a NJCC notebook computer be purchased ASAP in the price range of $1200-1500. The
computer will be an IBM Thinkpad. Rich Byrne has agreed to serve as Librarian
and custodian of this computer.
Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved): That
NJCC dues paid prior to December 31, 2004, be $20 for 2005 (only), OR $30
(total) for both 2005 and 2006.
Art Tracton has agreed to serve as a backup
for Treasurer John O’Neil. The Club is also seeking a backup or replacement for
our Secretary, Tom Kehoe, who winters in Florida.
Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved): That
active participating NJCC Executive Committee members be exempt from NJCC dues
in consideration for expenses incurred that are not currently reimbursed (such
as travel, telephone, postage, supplies, etc.).
Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved): That
NJCC spend $75 for a five-year renewal of the right to the domain name: NJCC.org.
John Beck discussed coming meetings. In November Glenn
Jacoby of JTEC will make a presentation on computer maintenance and repair. In
December the Club will hold its holiday party with a Chinese auction. Members
are urged to bring refreshments and/or prizes.
Dave Whittle of Webworking Services presented
his favorite hardware and software picks.
Note that the new format of these minutes
follows a suggestion of our Club President, Fred Sabin, who also frequently
serves as interim Secretary.
The meeting adjourned after 9:00 PM.
