Minutes of the
September
10, 2003
New Jersey Computer Club General Meeting
The
September General Meeting of the New Jersey Computer Club was held at the
North Branch Reformed Church.
 |
Fred
Sabin, Club President, opened the business portion of the meeting with a moment of
silence to remember our departed
Club member, Jim Russ.
Fred announced that the Executive Committee had voted to change the name of the Club scholarship from the
"New
Jersey Computer Club Founders' Memorial Award Scholarship" to the
"New
Jersey Computer Club Memorial Award." The
purpose of the change is to honor deceased members such as Jim Russ
who, while not a Club founder, made outstanding contributions to the
good of the Club and the community. Several people spoke about Jim's
many kindnesses.

Fred
Sabin announced that all elected officers were willing to run again
for the coming year. Fred encouraged others to come forth to serve as
new officers or as backups for officers. Doug Beck has agreed to
continue to serve as Webmaster while at college. Doris Smith will
serve as Librarian until the end of the year.
|
 |
The
Executive Committee has approved a motion to maintain NJCC dues at $36 a year with a
reduction to $30 if dues are paid before the January 1st of the new year.
All new members who give $30 will be paid-up through December 31,
2004.

The
computer-oriented nature of the Newsletter was discussed. Fred
Sabin will seek to have a future edition(s) of the Newsletter
include mention of key programs members feel every computer user
should have.

 |
Following
the business portion of the meeting, Keith
Ennis of Voice Factor gave an intriguing demonstration of the voice
recognition software, Dragon Naturally Speaking. A computer
Question and Answer session had preceded the business portion.
