New Jersey Computer Club General Meeting

  • The regular second monthly General Meeting of the New Jersey Computer Club was held at the North Branch Reformed Church starting at 6:30 PM.

  • Rich Byrne made an excellent short presentation on Open Office.

  • There was no business meeting.

  • Fred Sabin announced the following future programs:

March 12th - PowerQuest Corporation & AccessData Corporation Hard Drive Utilities

March 26th - Internet Random Access (John Beck)

April 9th - Creative Labs - Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Sound Card

May 14th - Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) – Computer Processors

Details on these meetings may be found on the http://njcc.org website.

  • Melvin Davidson then made a presentation of Alpha Five Database Software. This robust relational database program offers sophisticated, custom application-design ability through its easy, menu-driven coding. Scripts are the backbone of Alpha Five's power. Either menu-driven or hand-coded, they are a combination of macros and Xbasic. Alpha Five keeps you abreast of your project's underlying code throughout the database development process. As the final step during the creation of new elements like forms and reports, the Genie displays a View Xbasic button, which opens a window displaying the Xbasic code of the just-completed process. An included copy of Acrobat reader lets you access the Xbasic and Alpha Five help PDF files.

  • The meeting adjourned at 9:15 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Fred Sabin

President
