Minutes of the June 13, 2001
New Jersey Computer Club Meeting

  • Fred Sabin, President, called the business portion of the meeting of the New Jersey Computer Club to order at the North Branch Reformed Church at 8:00 PM. There were approximately 45 members and guests in attendance. Fred welcomed all in attendance.

  • The Minutes of the last general meeting and the Treasurer's Report, as posted in the Newsletter on the "njcc.org" website, were approved.

  • PCEXPO passes for JUNE 26-28 @ JAVITS CENTER are available for members only. At the EXPO, try to make contacts with vendors who might demo at future NJCC programs.

  • NJCC and Raritan Valley Community College's ATCC will hold a joint Microsoft meeting on October 17, 2001. Volunteers are needed to help prepare for this meeting.

  • Some special offers have been received for Club members:

  1. O’REILLY & ASSOCIATES (BOOKS & SOFTWARE CATALOG / 20% NJCC DISCOUNT)
http://www.oreilly.com (Order at 1-800-988-9938 with NJCC UG Code “DSUG”)

  1. ZIFF DAVIS USER GROUP
NJCC's website has a coded link for Club members to subscribe to one or more of Ziff Davis' free trade magazines. NJCC will get a $3 bounty for subscriptions that qualify.

  • Doris Smith discussed the NEW JERSEY COMPUTER CLUB FOUNDERS’ MEMORIAL AWARD SCHOLARSHIP. We need volunteers to help set up a sales event to raise funds for the scholarship.

  • Fred Sabin warned about an email virus hoax that asked recipients to delete "sulfnbx.exe" which, in reality, is a needed file. Such messages should be ignored. Tom Kehoe suggested that all email chain letters are best ignored.

  • John Beck reviewed the subjects of future NJCC meetings.  The July 11th meeting will feature a question and answer format rather than a demo.

  • The business portion of the meeting ended around 8:21 p.m. It had been preceded by an informative presentation by Glenn Jacoby, Carl Harmsen, and Stuart Colangelo of JTEC Systems <www.jtecsystems.com> of Hillsborough on when to upgrade existing computers. After the business portion, Paul Kurivachak, President of the Princeton PC Users Group, demoed software from TechSmith <www.techsmith.com>. The featured application was SnagIt, screen capture software.

        Respectfully Submitted,

        Tom Kehoe, Secretary
