MEETING
OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
OF THE NEW JERSEY COMPUTER CLUB
Members Present:
John Beck, Terry Beck, John Biegel, Rich
Byrne, Tom Kehoe, John O'Neil, Fred Sabin, and Doris Smith
The
meeting was held at the North Branch Reformed Church.

Fred
Sabin opened
the meeting. The first topic discussed was future programs. John Beck
provided the results of a survey of member interest in program topics.
Heading the list was digital cameras followed by such topics as
anti-virus protection, home-networking, Quicken and Google. Various
members of the Executive Committee agreed to offer relevant program
presentations. John Beck will send out an email soliciting volunteer
presenters from the general membership. Fred also encouraged the use
of DVD's in programs, such as Scott Mueller's "Upgrading and
Repairing PCs."

 |
To
facilitate the presentation of programs with sufficient time to answer
audience questions there was a consensus that topics should be
presented in the 7:30-8:30 p.m. time slot at our 2nd Wednesday-of-the-month
meetings. Additional questions might be answered subsequent to the
presentation or even at a 4th Wednesday-of-the-month meeting. The 4th
Wednesday evening might also be used for other purposes, such as
exploring hardware repair options.

The
need to upgrade the Club computer was discussed. A motion was made and
approved to task Fred Sabin and John Beck with searching for a desktop
computer in the $700 range which would have a Pentium 4 2.4 GHz
processor, 512 megs of RAM, 60 meg hard drive, DVD, CD-ROM burner,
3.5" floppy drive, NIC interface, 56K modem, dual video output,
etc. There would also be need for a 14-15" flat-panel monitor.
The final specs and cost will be circulated to the Executive
Committee.

 |
John
Beck made a motion to compensate the Webmaster. Discussion of the
motion was deferred to another meeting.

Respectfully
submitted,
Tom
