MINUTES OF THE FEBRUARY 21, 2001 MEETINGOF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEEOF THE NEW JERSEY COMPUTER CLUB
Present: John Beck, Doug Beck, John Biegel, Rich Byrne, Phil Corbo, Stephen Emde, Rich Giorgi, Tom Kehoe, Lenny Laich, John O’Neill, Jim Russ, Fred Sabin, and Doris Smith.
The meeting was called to order at 9:00 p.m. at the North Branch Reformed Church by Fred Sabin.
1.) Fred Sabin read a message from Forrest Phillips resigning as NJCC Secretary due to conflicts in making NJCC meetings. The Executive Committee voted to accept the resignation. A motion was then made, seconded, and approved: That Tom Kehoe be appointed NJCC Secretary per “NJCC Constitution & By-Laws / Article 5 - Officers - Section 4.”
2.) Our right to the domain name <njcc.org> is being worked out with Network Solutions.
3.) Fred Sabin asked each member of the Executive Committee to provide a list of NJCC assets he or she might have. The recent deaths of key members pointed to the need for such a list.
4.) Lenny Laich requested an inventory of Club assets stored at the North Branch Reformed Church and reported that he hoped cable access would be available from the Church location by the end of the year.
5.) John Beck reported on the upcoming Club programs. Rich Byrne is scheduled to provide a demo of MS Word at the March 14th Meeting. TravRoute was suggested as a possible future demo. It was agreed to hold a July general meeting, but to scrap the computer fair format.
6.) Rich Giorgi reported that 94 families are members of NJCC and individual members (from those families) were 125+.
7.) A motion was made, seconded, and approved: That the report of the special Ad Hoc Committee to investigate and recommend a NJCC Scholarship/Award Program in memory of John Huemer, George Porcella, and Ann Yacka be accepted as amended. The amendments made the criteria for recipients less restrictive. Recipients must be enrolled in or actively planning to be enrolled in computer-related training at a recognized institution and show promise of successfully completing the training.
It was further moved, seconded, and approved that the first grant of $500 will be taken from general funds and given to a student chosen by Raritan Valley Community College. Future awards may go to persons associated with other institutions. The Ad Hoc Committee, under the chairpersonship of Doris Smith, will continue in existence to explore other sources for funding the Award.
The next meeting of the Executive Committee will be scheduled at a later date.
The meeting adjourned at approximately 10:30 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted, Tom Kehoe, Secretary |
