October 4, 2000 Executive Committee Meeting

Present: Doug Beck, John Beck, John Biegel, Stephen Emde, Dave Golub, John Huemer, Tom Kehoe, Lenny Laich, John O'Neill, George Porcella, Jim Russ, Fred Sabin, and Doris Smith.

 

  • The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. at the North Branch Reformed Church by Fred Sabin.

 

  • George Porcella was gratefully thanked by all for organizing and preparing a wonderful Italian supper prior to the meeting. Thanks also went to those who contributed food and helped in the setup and cleanup. Everyone enjoyed this supper greatly!

 

  • Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved):
    That the NJCC Executive Committee propose the following slate of officers to the membership for voting at the November 8th meeting:

President:

Fred Sabin

1st Vice President:

Rich Byrne

2nd Vice President:

John Beck

3rd Vice President:

Lenny Laich

Secretary:

Forrest Phillips

Treasurer:

John O'Neill

Librarian:

Jim Russ

 

 

  • An extended discussion was held on NJCC financial matters, including current and projected income and expenses.

 

  • This led to the following two motions:

 

Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved): 

That the NJCC make a contribution to the North Branch Reformed Church of $100 per each (2nd Wednesday) Meeting and $25 per each (3rd Wednesday) Workshop.

Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved): 

To table a motion to reduce membership dues to $30 per year to a future Executive Committee meeting.

Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved): 

To authorize Lenny Laich to investigate potential high-speed Internet access connections to the NBRC, and to report his findings to the Executive Committee.

  • After a brief discussion it was agreed that the NJCCMAIL list serve should be "open" to both members and non-members, and that Rich Byrne should continue to moderate its usage.

 

  • An extended discussion was held on NJCC programs and meeting formats.

 

  • The 2nd Wednesday schedule for the remainder of the year is set with McAfee (10/11); Microsoft (11/8); and Quicken/Holiday Party (12/13). An opportunity to offer something new exists with a currently "open" January meeting. Ideas and suggestions for changes, topics, etc. should be submitted to John Beck ASAP.

 

  • The 3rd Wednesday Workshops are currently on hold pending additional responses to John Beck's 8/20 email (redistributed to all) requesting topic and presenter inputs.

 

  • A discussion on NJCC website matters led to the following two motions:

 

Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved): 
That no advertising be allowed on the njcc.org website unless or until approved by the NJCC Executive Committee.

 

Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved): 
That the NJCC Webmaster (George Porcella) be authorized and responsible for the administration of all "links" on the njcc.org; website.

 

Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved):
That John Huemer organize and coordinate a "NJCC Membership Drive" during the remainder of the year.

 

Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved):
That Stephen Emde be authorized to upgrade the NJCC computer's hard drive in lieu of paying his currently due $36 membership dues.

  • The next meeting of the Executive Committee is scheduled for the first Wednesday in December (December 6th) pending availability of the NBRC.

 

  • The meeting adjourned at 9:40 p.m.
