May 4, 2000 Executive Committee Meeting

Present: John Beck, John Biegel, Rich Byrne, Stephen Emde, Rich Giorgi, John Huemer, Tom Kehoe, John O'Neill, George Porcella, Jim Russ, Fred Sabin, and Doris Smith.

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. at the North Branch Reformed Church by Fred Sabin.

 

1.) Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved): That the NJCC checking and money market accounts currently at the United National Bank be closed.

 

2.) Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved): That John O'Neill as NJCC Treasurer be authorized to open new NJCC accounts in another local bank (as Summit Bank).

 

3.) Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved): That John O'Neill as NJCC Treasurer be authorized to sign checks and transact NJCC business up to $500. For checks and transactions over $500 signatures of two NJCC Officers (President/Vice President/Treasurer/Secretary) are required. The NJCC Secretary will notify appropriate parties of changes in NJCC Officers.

 

NOTE: The Executive Committee also reaffirmed the May 5, 1999 decision that "Officers and Committee Chairpersons should have both the responsibility and authority to transact business affairs within their appropriate areas by using their best judgment, subject to the following restriction:

Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved): That expenditures up to $100.00 could be made with the approval of the Treasurer; between $100 and $500 with the approval of five of the seven Officers (with the Treasurer being one of the five); and over $500 only after approval at an Executive Committee Meeting."

4.) Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved): That John O'Neill as NJCC Treasurer be authorized to open a local post office box for NJCC business purposes (estimated at $44 per six months).

 

5.) Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved): That "originals" of NJCC key documents be held by the NJCC Secretary or Treasurer (as appropriate), with backup "copies" being held by both the NJCC Chairman and President. All documents must be transferred with changes in NJCC personnel.

 

6.) John Beck and John Huemer made excellent presentations and proposals regarding future NJCC programs and publicity. After much discussion it was agreed that the Program Committee should prioritize, follow-up and implement these ideas, including:

Meeting Program Schedule:

 

May 10, 2000: PowerQuest (7:30 PM)

June 14, 2000: Microsoft (Web Lifestyle)

July 12, 2000: Computer Fair (R. Byrne/J. Huemer to schedule)

August 2000: No Meeting

Sept. 13, 2000: COGNOS (J. Beck to schedule)

Oct. 11, 2000: McAfee

Nov. 8, 2000: Internet On-Line Teaching (J. Beck/T. Kehoe to schedule)

Dec. 13, 2000: Holiday Party (R. Byrne/J. Huemer to schedule)

Publicity Ideas:

NJCC member recruitment of new members.

NJCC flyers and posters.

Presentations to local clubs and organizations.

Workshops, SIG's and third Wednesday informal meeting.

Local media (newspapers, cable TV, radio, etc.).

7.) Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved): That the NJCC return to using free raffle tickets as an incentive for bringing in new guests and members (R. Giorgi to review old NJCC policy and update and implement ASAP).

8.) Per the NJCC Constitution and By-Laws (Article 5 / Section 1) the following 

Committee Chairpersons were appointed and confirmed:

 

Program Committee: John Beck
Publicity Committee: "Open"
Finance Committee: John O'Neill
Membership Committee: Rich Giorgi
Newsletter: Doug & John Beck

9.) Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved): That per the NJCC Constitution and By-Laws (Article 5 / Section 2) George Porcella was re-elected NJCC Webmaster.


10.) Motion (Made/Seconded & Approved): That per the NJCC Constitution and By-Laws (Article 5 / Section 2) John Huemer was re-elected NJCC Chairman.

The next meeting of the Executive Committee is scheduled for the first Wednesday in September (September 6th) pending availability of the NBRC.
