October 6, 1999 Executive Committee Meeting
Present: Doug Beck, John Beck, Rich Byrne, Rich Giorgi, Dave Golub, John Huemer (Chairman),
Tom Kehoe, Marion Mason, John O'Neill, Diana Pinchevsky, George Porcella, Jim Russ,
Fred Sabin, and Ann Yacka
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm by John Huemer at the North Branch Reformed Church.
A. Brief Updates on Outstanding Items included:
1. Liability Insurance (Rich) - Rich has obtained a preliminary quotation, and is currently following up on policy coverage and other questions. He will give a final report and recommendation at the next Executive Committee Meeting.
2. NJCC By-Laws Update/Revisions - In progress by Jim Russ. Jim will e-mail a "draft" to all Executive Committee members for review and comments shortly.
3. NJCC History (Fred) - In progress by Fred Sabin. Additional information on the formation of the current NJCC in December of 1989 is still needed from members that participated in this endeavor.
4. Future Programs (John) - The current regular meeting program schedule is:
a. Adobe Systems (October 13th at RVCC)
b. Jasc Software (November 10th)
c. Microsoft / Holiday Party (December 8th)
d. MGI Software (January 12th)
e. Corel / WordPerfect (February 9th)
f. Quicken??? (Will contact for March 15th )
B. Final RVCC / October Meeting details discussed included:
1. Adobe Presentation Details (agenda, projector, mike, etc.) - completed with Mike
Machnik.
2. Room Layout (seating, tables, workshops, beverages, sign-in, etc.) - discussed and agreed upon.
3. Parking - completed (Lots #1 & #2 per RVCC maps distributed at September 8th Meeting).
4.
Workshops (what, who, etc.) - George Porcella will do "Hardware Repair/Upgrade for Beginners" and Jim Russ will do " Installing/Removing Software with Windows 95/98".
5. Sign-in (arrangement, who, tickets, info, etc.) - Rich Giorgi will coordinate with separate tables for RVCC and NJCC.
6. Publicity (RVCC, public, NJCC, etc.) - completed by Diana Pinchevsky.
7. Beverages - 150 coffee at $1.00 plus 140 sodas at $1.25 ($325.00 total) will be ordered from Chris Potocki
(RVCC/Eurest Dining Services). NJCC check #1234 issued by Ann Yacka.
8. Setup/Cleanup (who, time, assistance, etc.) - RVCC will set-up and clean-up, but NJCC members should make every effort to return the room to a clean and orderly state before leaving.
9. Raffle Software (how, who, etc.) - ALL attendees who sign-in will get a ticket for all raffle prizes.
C. NJCC "Connection" Newsletter: John and Doug Beck were introduced as our new (Web Page) Newsletter Editors.
1. There was extended discussion on the content/format in which the
newsletter should/would be offered (as web page; e-mail; and/or hard copy).

The final tentative agreement (November and December only) is: Fred Sabin will update the current web page "draft" (Newsletter cover page
only).
3.
Marion Mason will mail a hard copy of the "draft" web page to NJCC
member.
4.
Doug and John Beck will develop a new web page content/format.
5. Rich Byrne will develop an e-mail notification/communication system.
All of the above will be reviewed at the next Executive Committee Meeting.
D. Distribution of five Microsoft Office 2000 software - "tabled" pending receipt of further information from North Branch Reformed Church (Lenny Laich) regarding potential church restrictions on auctions, raffles, etc.
E. Proposed Year 2000 Officers/November elections - all current officers have accepted the Executive Committee request to be nominated for another one year term.
NOTE: More volunteers are required to back-up and support current officers and chairpersons. Each officer/chairperson will develop a listing of activities for which they need back-up/support, and after review by the Executive Committee additional volunteers will be sought.
F. NJCC's Future: Workshops: The Program Committee will schedule a "New User's Workshop" at every General (2nd Wednesday) Meeting, plus an additional workshop when possible. They will also schedule a longer (two to three hour 3rd Wednesday) Workshop for November (1999) plus additional ones for the year 2000.
SIG's: The Program Committee will investigate what interests there might be in this area.
NJCC "Mission" & 5-Year Plan: A full discussion of this topic was "tabled" to a later date.
G. Future Executive Committee Meetings: The next Executive Committee Meeting will be Wednesday-December 1st at 7:00 pm at the NBRC (pending availability).
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 pm.
